Virgo Full Moon - Eclipse, 2025
(Originally published on 3/13/2025)
Hi friends,
It’s that time of year again. Eclipse season! Tonight, we will have a lunar eclipse in the sign of Virgo. It goes exact at 11:55 pm Pacific time.
If you didn’t know, now you’ll know, that this astrologer has their natal moon and rising in Virgo. I am.. curious. This is the first round of eclipses to happen in my first house since before I started studying astrology in 2018.
—Pause for rabbithole—
Okay y’all I am really shocked to share this, but the last time the nodes of the moon were in Pisces/Virgo (2015 and 2016), we missed out on a Lunar eclipse in Virgo entirely. So the last time there was a Lunar eclipse in Virgo, it was February 2008. TIL that’s possible!
(If you missed my lengthy ramble about the moon’s nodes and feel left out, just know that they are the places where the path of the moon and the path of the sun intersect. So when we have a full or new moon that occurs when the sun and moon are close to those places, an eclipse occurs.)
But really, is an eclipse actually a big deal, astrologically? It depends on a few factors.
There are some folks who are always going to be sensitive to eclipses, and will find that eclipse seasons bring about a lot of changes for them personally. If you’d like to know if eclipses are a big deal for you, you can look for a specific indicator in your chart. If your Sun placement is within ten degrees of one of the nodes, you may have been born close in time to an eclipse. People who came into this world during an eclipse season usually find that eclipses can signal major turning points in their lives. If you need help looking for this, email me. I’m always happy to answer questions.
If we listen to Keiko, author of Power Wish (and we do listen to her around here), she would tell us that an eclipse is a super-powered moon to wish on. So for those of us with Virgo and Pisces moons, these next few eclipse seasons are for us to really go big on what we are wishing for.
And, for those of us with mutable rising signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces), these eclipses will be happening in our angular houses. That means that these eclipses will affect us more directly than otherwise.
I would love to hear from my cardinal rising sign people about this, since we are now ending a period of time when you have been experiencing this. If your rising sign is Aries, Cancer, Libra, or Capricorn, how did the last few rounds of eclipse seasons feel for you? Think back to the Aries and Libra seasons of the last two years. Did you have any major life turning points happen? (We’re talking about September/October of 2023 and 2024, and March/April of 2024).
This eclipse season is particularly full of drama. Let me run through what’s happening here. We have our first Virgo Lunar Eclipse on the 13th and our last Aries Solar Eclipse on the 29th. Between those days, Mercury will station retrograde, the sun will enter Aries, both Mercury and Venus will conjunct with the Sun and then move into Pisces and conjunct Neptune. And then, literally the day after the Aries Solar Eclipse, Neptune will move into Aries for the first time in 164 years. The. Drama.
I don’t know how to describe the meanings of these transits except to say, things will not be as they seem. Things are going to look like they are shaping up one way, and then the house of cards will fall and we will end up with something completely different. And even then, there will be a lot of confusion, maybe even some delusion, about what it is we’re looking at in the aftermath. All I can really suggest is that we do what we can to remain open to possibilities and don’t try to make up our minds too soon about how we want things to be.
As much as I have liked seeing Neptune wear the dreaminess of Pisces, I am equally nervous to see it run around with the weapons of Aries. I think we have seen a resurgence of spirituality in the last decade and a half specifically because of this Neptune in Pisces transit.
If you’re interested, this is a very short post from an astrologer I think pretty highly of. I appreciate this post because he shows a simple way of understanding how a planet could function in a particular sign.
https://patrickwatsonastrology.com/planets-in-signs/neptune-in-the-signs/neptune-in-aries/
He says of the planet, “Neptune represents the transcendence of visible limits, signifying mystery, spiritualism, dreams, fantasy, escapism, irrationality, illusions, delusions. It also has special significance for drugs and pharmaceuticals, mass entertainment, trends in mainstream music and movies.”
And of the sign, “Aries is a sign associated with aggression, war, bravery, nobility, individuality.” Aries is ruled by Mars.
Then he puts it all together to say, “Neptune in Aries is […] dissolving, synthesizing, idealizing and artificially reconstructing the significations of Mars.”
In the March forecast episode of The Astrology Podcast, Austin Coppock asked a question that has stayed at the front of my mind: “Will Neptune in Aries be heroic—or will it be stupid and violent?”
Whatever Neptune in Aries will be, it will be that for the next fourteen years, starting this month. After all the drama of this eclipse season, we will have ended the old story of Neptune in Pisces and be left to start a new story entirely.
Tonight, I will go outside and watch the moon turn red in the shadow of Earth. I will make wishes for myself, I will make wishes for all of you, and I will make wishes for everyone in creation. I will give gratitude to the moon for all the opportunities of my life.
I hope you make some wishes tonight. This is a full moon, so write as if you have already received what you are asking for. Remember to include how you feel about receiving your wish.
Aries - What do you need for your health? For your work/life balance? What resources do you have that can change that story for the better?
Taurus - What do you need in your creative or romantic life? How can a perspective shift help you have what you want?

Cancer - What do you need to learn? What do you need to change about your routine? How can your friends help you get what you need?
Leo - What resources do you need to support yourself better? What do you need to help you see your own worth? What’s shifting in your career right now and how do you want that to turn out?
Virgo - What do you need in order to have a new perspective? How do you want to see the world? Is there something you need to learn, some place you need to go, so that you can see yourself with new eyes?
Libra - What shadows have been following you? What do you need from them, and what do you owe to them? The story of what others owe you has been a theme lately—how does that play into this?
Scorpio - Who are your people? What do you want for them? How can you feel more belonging with them? How does this play into the long term shifts that have happened in your major relationships?
Sagittarius - What do you need for the next step in your career? What do you need other people to see when they look at you?
Capricorn - What do you need to believe in? What do you want to believe in? How can the long term shifts in your romantic life support these needs?
Aquarius - What do you need your partners to give you? What do you feel you are owed? Is being owed something that creates the sturdiness? Whatever has shifted at home the last few years, ask to understand how it has given you what you need.
Pisces - What relationships change who you are? Look to those people in your life now. See how the shifts in your daily life have shaped those relationships. What do they need? What can you give them that will feed you, too?
Thank you for reading. I send you all my love. If my tone shifted wildly in this letter it’s because I’ve been very sick the last four days. Wear a mask, y’all.
Until next time,
Alanna
PS - anyone in Seattle want to watch the eclipse? Maybe we’ll get a little witchy with it? Lmk!
