Libra New Moon, 2024

(Originally published on 10/1/2024)

Hi friends!

On the 2nd, at about noon, we will have our last solar eclipse in Libra for 18 years.

Since we are coming to the end of this eclipse series in Aries and Libra (one more in Aries next year and then we’ve moved on!), it’s a good time to think back on the last two years and try to locate what has changed for you over that time period. This will vary based on your rising sign, so I’ll give you some prompts to consider.

  • Aries and Libra rising - what has changed in your appearance? What has changed in your one-on-one relationships? Is there something that other people are now noticing about you that they hadn’t noticed before? Do you feel more or less connected with or differentiated from your partners? Has sobriety beckoned?

  • Taurus and Scorpio rising - what’s going on with your work? Did you change jobs? Did you become a manager of other people? Have there been changes to your physical or mental health? Have you discovered any secrets? Maybe you remembered something from your past or admitted to yourself something you’ve been denying?

  • Gemini and Sagittarius rising - have you started a new hobby? Played with a new lover? Joined a group? Gained new friends? Or have you lost touch with any of the above?

  • Cancer and Capricorn rising - have you moved residences? Changed career paths? Earned yourself a new kind of reputation? How has your relationship with your family changed?

  • Leo and Aquarius rising - have you been somewhere new that gave you a fresh perspective? Met a neighbor that changed the vibe of the neighborhood? Did you take a class? Did a partner or sibling start dating someone new?

  • Pisces and Virgo rising - think about the things you own and the things your partners own. Has anything changed in that realm? What about the things you value—has that list of priorities shifted? What have you learned about the things you have inherited from your parents?

I hope you take some time with those before you get started with your moon wish, because we will want to pull on those threads. Whatever has been happening for you in those realms of life is what will be moved along again by the eclipse. My intention, and hope, is that if we are focusing on what is already going to be effected, we can shape those changes on our own terms instead of being pulled along without aim.

When writing your moon wish, consider the sign of Libra. It is a sign that seeks relational equity and harmony, as it complements Aries, which seeks individuation. Ruled by Venus, it’s a good place to start if you want to ask for more understanding and ease in your relationships. As a cardinal sign (meaning, it begins the season of autumn), it’s a sign where it’s a good idea to ask for beginnings to things. This complements the fact that this is a new moon - when writing your wish, it’s best to ask for something new to begin, even if that “something new” is a chapter in an existing story. Mercury will be conjunct the sun and moon at the same time, so if you need to ask for help communicating, now is a good time to ask.

As always, write your wish down on paper during the first couple hours after the new moon goes exact. Visualize your wish as much as you can, and if you need to create a visual for yourself, do it!

In other news, we are about halfway through our time of Saturn in Pisces. I’m curious about those of you who are experiencing your Saturn returns—reply here and let me know how you’re doing? I have started scheduling readings on Sundays from 10 to 3, so if anyone wants some time to look at more personalized info I’m here.

It’s just a short one this week! I do want to say — thank you for reading.

Sending you love.

Alanna
