Gemini Full Moon, 2024

(Originally published on 12/13/2024)

Hi friends,

On Sunday at around 1 am PST, we will have a full moon in Gemini.

If this month has been feeling rough, I do have to tell you that the things that feel rough are probably going to keep feeling rough. We are still in this Mars retrograde. I think we can expect some ego-bruising while he is in Leo for another three weeks, at which point he moves back into Cancer, where I think things might get a little more emotional, changeable.

But in other parts of our lives, this coming week we are very likely in for some sort of delight. Venus is now past her harrowing encounter with Pluto and is beginning to trine Jupiter. This will take her another five days to bring to exactness, but I think we will feel this shift immediately. Take advantage of this! Seek out pleasure now! Mercury will be stationing direct as we make our moon wishes, and my hope is that, especially since we are working with a Mercury ruled moon, this return to direct motion will help us feel very clear in our wishes and stable in our understandings.

I can’t help but want to ask—are you all watching the fireworks of this dawn of Pluto in Aquarius? I’m pretty anxious to see what happens next. Pluto is all about transformation, about digging down deep to the roots of things. We’ve got twenty years ahead of us to dig around in our social structures and in our uses of technology. Just as with Pluto’s transit of Capricorn, where the 2008 market crash showed us how that chapter would change our financial world, this first bit of Pluto in Aquarius is really… well, it’s setting a tone. I’m almost afraid to go too deep on this subject because it does start to scare me and the last thing I want is for my letters to feel like doom and gloom. But in my next couple letters I will tell you about the big shifts of 2025 and 2026 that astrologers have been talking about for years now. We really are on a precipice.

But for now let’s make some moon wishes. I’m looking forward to this one. We have Jupiter co-present with the moon in Gemini, and he is all about generosity and abundance. I think we should fully take him up on his offers. But we should also do our best to be very clear in our intentions, as Neptune is also in the mix, and Neptune will absolutely make things foggy for us. So let’s walk that line of asking for something big, but being really, really, clear about what that is.

As always, these prompts are by rising sign, and they are to spark ideas, not to direct or limit you. I’ve included the areas of life where Neptune may sneak in some confusion too.

  • Aries: What do you need to say? What do you need to learn? Does your sister need some help (or neighbor, friend, metamour)? Expect some confusion from unexpected places, especially from inside yourself.

  • Taurus: What resources are you needing? How can you care for yourself in a way that brings you more fully into your power? There may be a mix up or misunderstanding in your friend group or an organization you belong to.

  • Gemini: What would make you the most you? What would you change about how other people perceive you? What can you ask for that will help you really show up authentically? Watch out for some misunderstandings in your public life, at work perhaps, but in general you as a person may be misunderstood this week.

  • Cancer: What can you ask for that would help you understand yourself? What kind of generosity can you ask for on behalf of your own shadow? Watch for some fogginess in your beliefs about life, and avoid making travel plans this week.

  • Leo: What kind of generosity can you ask for on behalf of the groups you belong to? Do you need to find yourself in a new group? Ask for them to find you, or ask for a way to find them. You will receive the confusion of your partners this week.

  • Virgo: What do you need in order to take a new step in your career? How can you make your reputation into what you want it to be? Ask for that. Watch for confusion in your major relationships.

  • Libra: Do you need to take a vacation? Are you needing some spiritual inspiration? This is a great time to ask. Watch for a misunderstanding at your job, or a misdiagnosis of a body problem.

  • Scorpio: What do you need from your partners? I’m talking about resources and support. How can other people really show up for you right now? Watch out for confusion in romance, and maybe let yourself get a little delusional when you get into creative mode this week.

  • Sagittarius: People are mirrors. What have they been telling you lately? What do you wish they would tell you? Who could tell you what you need to hear? This moon might bring some confusion in your home.

  • Capricorn: It’s time to ask the moon for a promotion. Or maybe tell her about your new fitness routine so she can lend you a hand. There may be a mixup close to home, possibly at your siblings house, or a letter you write may go missing.

  • Aquarius: The moon is looking at you with heart eyes. Ask her for a date. (With anyone, doesn’t have to be her). Maybe it’s time to admit that you’re really good at that creative outlet you’ve been hiding from the world. Maybe you should ask the moon to book you a show so you can share your talents. Don’t lose your wallet.

  • Pisces: What is missing at home? What needs to be shared there? What do you need to learn about feeling grounded? Ask for that. I would tell you to expect some misunderstanding in how you are perceived or confusion about who you are, but you’ve had Neptune transiting your first house for long enough that you already know how to handle that. This is just one more activation of that transit before it moves off your ascendant and into your second house starting next year.

Remember that this is a full moon, so write and speak your wishes as if they have already come true! We are thanking the moon for the gifts she has already given us, and telling her how it feels to have what we asked for. Get emotional about it. In Power Wish (the book I am most often referencing when it comes to moon wishes), Keiko tells us to use a green or blue glass bottle to hold water in the moonlight, sitting the glass on top of the page where our wishes are written or just to leave it out all night to take in the rays. Then, drink the water while visualizing your wishes.

Since this is a Saturday night full moon I will be taking full advantage. My plan is to stay up late, bundle up and go outside to be in the moonlight. We will also be getting the Geminids meteor shower at that time, but I will be surprised if we can see it over the brightness of the full moon. If you see them, tell me about it!

Lastly, I just want to thank everyone who sent funds to help me get to the Northwest Astrological Conference! Y’all literally made me cry. I am having so much fun writing these letters and it brings me so much joy to know that you’re enjoying them. And my little subscriber list continues to grow just from you telling other people about my letters. I don’t think I could ask for sweeter or more supportive friends. Thank you.

Until next time! Sending you so much love.

Alanna
